Washington D.C. – Minnesota’s Republican congressional delegation is urging committee leaders to fully defund the US Department of Education.
In a letter to leadership, Representatives Tom Emmer, Brad Finstad, Pete Stauber, and Michelle Fischbach requested the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies. They stated, “Dismantling the Department of Education will end federal overreach and allow states, parents, and school districts to take control of education and improve children’s learning outcomes.”
State education officials say Minnesota could lose 256 million dollars for children with disabilities and 192 million for low-income students.
