Fergus Falls, MN – A rally protesting the Trump Administration is being held this weekend in Fergus Falls.
On Saturday, June 14th, “NO KINGS” rallies are being held across the nation. Local organizer Pam Matchie-Thiede says, “I am of the belief that politics is about sharing limited resources, and what I’m seeing is a complete takeover. A disregard for the laws, a disregard for human kindness and respect, and I’m seeing things getting torn down.”
Matchie-Thiede says that about 80 people have registered to participate in the rally, and more may just show up, “I am blown away by that. I thought there may be 6 or 8 of us who would be willing to stand there and say we don’t believe our constitution is being valued. We want to say this is what we believe.”
With another chillier day being forecasted, Matchie-Thiede recommends that participants dress for the weather, bring a bottle of water, and bring a sign or an American flag. She also invites people who do not agree with the protest to reach out to her and have a conversation outside of the protest, saying, “Let’s exchange information and make time to go to coffee in Fergus Falls and talk about our differences, because we live here. We have to share limited resources, we have to support each other. Everyone I’ve met here has been genuine, supportive, and kind. Let’s tap into that and keep this community viable, and safe, and growing. Let’s figure out how to do that together.”
The “NO KINGS” rally will be held at the Spies Riverfront Pavilion from noon until 1 p.m.
