Fergus Falls, MN – A man was arrested at the Fergus Falls Walmart Sunday morning (June 15th) for threatening to “shoot the place up.”
According to court documents, the Fergus Falls Police Department responded to a report at around 8:40 a.m. of a man, later identified as 37-year-old Reis Allan Tueffel of Columbia Heights, going up to a witness in the parking lot and threatening to kill people. The witness also told officers that they believed he said he had a machete.
Officers say when they arrived, they spoke with an employee to review security footage, and learned that multiple customers reported that Tueffel had come up to them and threatened to kill them or everybody.
Officers found Tueffel in a van at the back of the parking lot and used a PA system to order him out of the vehicle. Officers say Tueffel yelled out that he wasn’t going back to jail. He attempted to drive away, but drove over stop sticks and was surrounded by law enforcement vehicles.
Officers say they were able to gain control of Tueffel’s arms by reaching through his open window and he moved away and refused to leave the van. Eventually, officers were able to remove him from the vehicle and take him into custody.
Tueffel has been charged with threats of violence and made his first court appearance on Monday.
