National Agencies Investigating Plane Landing on Wilkin County Road

Wolverton, MN – A small aircraft made an unexpected landing on a rural Wilkin County road Tuesday night (September 2nd).

The Wilkin County Sheriff’s Office says the aircraft landed around the intersection of 170th Avenue and 160th Street, southeast of Wolverton, at around 8:51 p.m. On the way to the scene, deputies were informed that there were 2 individuals on board and neither sustained injuries that would need medical attention. The individuals told deputies that they were flying from San Jose, California to Park Rapids, Minnesota.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board were contacted and will be conducting a full investigation into the incident. No further information is being released.
