
Ottertail, MN – Fire Departments across Otter Tail County were busy this Halloween morning with a grain dryer fire in rural Dalton and a house fire in rural Ottertail.
The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office says deputies, along with the Ottertail Fire Department, Ottertail Rescue, Perham Fire Department, and Perham ambulance, responded to a structure fire at around 4:24 a.m. in Rush Lake Township, north of the city of Ottertail. Deputies say there was significant damage to the inside of the house. They also say there were minor injuries to the occupants of the home. The origin of the fire is believed to be non-suspicious in nature.
At around 4:30 a.m., the sheriff’s office received a report of a grain dryer fire in Tumuli township, southwest of Dalton. Members of the Dalton, Elbow Lake, Wendell, and Fergus Falls Fire Departments responded to the scene alongside deputies and found a 1000-bushel grain dryer fully engulfed in flames. Deputies say the surrounding structures and grain storage did not appear to be damaged. No injuries were reported from the fire. The cause of the blaze is unknown, but deputies say it is believed to be non-suspicious at this time.
