Dalton, MN – A man has been arrested for domestic assault after crashing his car while fleeing the scene Wednesday morning (November 12).
The Grant County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a domestic assault by strangulation around 10:19 a.m. The caller reported that the male suspect had drove away and was believed to be suicidal.
Deputies had responded to the location when the suspect contacted the victim and said he had crashed his vehicle and wanted the victim to come pick him up near the Ten Mile Lake Resort in Dalton.
The deputies contacted the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office for assistance, and learned they had already been receiving reports of a man running in and out of the woods near the resort. Deputies from both counties conducted a search utilizing a drone and a K-9 unit. The suspect and his vehicle were found and he was taken into custody about a mile from the campground.
The incident remains under investigation, and further details, including the identity of the suspect, are not being released at this time.
