Vergas, MN – A building in rural Vergas is a total loss following a fire Saturday morning.
The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office says fire crews from the Pelican Rapids and Vergas Fire Departments responded to the blaze at 27854 425th Street at around 10:45 a.m. Deputies say the fire had fully engulfed the detached garage by the time crews arrived.
The fire was extinguished, and no injuries were reported. Deputies say the fire started from a double barrel wood stove in the garage, but it is unknown at this time how the fire escaped the stove and ignited the building.
