Campbell, MN – A Wheaton man is hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after a collision between his car and a train Friday afternoon.
State troopers say that around 12:30 p.m., 42-year-old Jessie Vetovich was heading south on U.S. Highway 75 and the train was westbound on the tracks just north of Highway 55, when they collided in the intersection. He was transported to CSI St. Francis Health in Breckenridge for treatment of his injuries.
Troopers say there was snow and ice on the road at the time of the crash and Vetovich was not wearing a seatbelt.
The State Patrol was assisted by the Minnesota DNR, Wilkin County Sheriff’s Office, St. Francis Breckenridge EMS, and the Fairmount and Campbell Fired Departments.
