Fergus Falls, MN – A longstanding spring tradition returns to the M State Fergus Falls campus this week as the fine arts department hosts the 52nd annual Invitational Art Show, a celebration of area artists’ creativity and craftsmanship.

Open to artists working in a wide range of styles and disciplines, the Invitational offers a broad snapshot of the region’s artistic voices. The exhibit brings together work inspired by local landscapes, personal stories and imaginative exploration, highlighting both emerging and established artists.

“This year’s invitational features 148 works by 80 artists from more than two dozen area communities, representing a rich mix of materials and approaches,” says Lori Charest, M State ceramics instructor, art collection curator and longtime organizer of the invitational. “Each year, this show offers something new, and it’s rewarding to see how the exhibit comes together as a collective reflection of our region’s creative energy.”

The exhibit includes original paintings, sculptures, drawings, pottery, textiles and other creative works. Many pieces are available for purchase. There is no entry fee for artists and M State does not take a commission on any works sold.

The 2026 Invitational Art Show opens at the Charles Beck Gallery this Thursday, March 26, and will remain on display through Saturday, May 16.

An artists’ reception will be held on the final day of the exhibit, May 16, from 1-3 p.m. in Legacy Hall at M State Fergus Falls.

Community members are also encouraged to view the exhibit while attending other spring events and activities on campus. Admission to the Charles Beck Gallery and to the artists’ reception is free and open to the public.

The gallery is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
