Bertha, MN – The identity of the victim killed in a two-vehicle crash south of Bertha last Thursday has been released.

Troopers say 26-year-old Blake Baumgartner of Hewitt was killed when his pickup and a sedan collided while heading north on Highway 71 near Palomino Road at around 10:49 p.m. on April 16. Baumgartner was pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers say it is unknown if he was wearing a seatbelt or if the airbag deployed.

The driver of the sedan, 20-year-old Johnathan Freyholtz of Hewitt, was brought to Astera Health for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in the crash.

The State Patrol was assisted by the Todd County Sheriff’s Office and Bertha Fire and Ambulance.
