One Dead Another in Custody Following a Pickup Crash in Rural Perham

Perham, MN – One person is dead and another is in custody following a crash near Perham.

The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office says that around 6 a.m. Saturday, May 2, deputies responded to a crash involving critical injuries on 460th Street, southwest of Perham.

Deputies learned that 40-year-old Nicole Shoultz of Dent was ejected from an older F-150 when it left the roadway and overturned in a farm field. Shoultz was taken to the emergency room in Perham by a private vehicle several hours after the crash is believed to have occurred.

Despite life-saving efforts by hospital staff, Shoultz succumbed to her injuries upon her arrival at the emergency room.

Deputies say 33-year-old Allen Alberts of Dent was later taken into custody on charges related to the incident. Pending charges on the Otter Tail County Jail custody list include 2nd degree manslaughter. The incident remains under investigation.
