Cody Steinbach (OTCDF)
New York Mills, MN – A New York Mills man has been sentenced for threatening to shoot his ex.
On Monday, 34-year-old Cody William Steinbach was sentenced to 3 years of supervised probation for threats of violence.
Prosecutors say that on January 27, 2025, the victim, who had broken up with Steinbach the day before, had reached out to retrieve her belongings from his home. She said that when she arrived, Steinbach let her in and she went to the garage to collect her possessions. He then began to push her and told her to leave, before leaving the garage and returning with a handgun.
The victim told deputies that Steinbach fired off a round before pointing the gun at her chest. The victim stood still in the garage as he then put the gun against her forehead. Shortly after, a witness arrived at the house, and the victim told them to call the police.
Steinbach was originally charged with 2nd degree assault, which was dismissed as part of a plea agreement. He pleaded guilty to threats of violence in March.
