Ottertail City, MN – A kid riding a bike was hit by a car in rural Ottertail Sunday afternoon.
The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to the crash at 42566 County Highway 1, southwest of the City of Ottertail, at around 4 p.m. Deputies determined that 18-year-old Ashtyn Wolf of Lakeville was pulling out of the driveway in her Jeep when she struck an 11-year-old girl on her bike. The girl was hit as she was passing in front of the driveway and was followed by her mother on a separate bicycle.
Officials say the girl was wearing a helmet and only suffered apparent abrasions and soreness. Wolf told deputies that the bikes were obscured by foliage. She said she only looked left before turning right onto the highway and did not see the girl on her bicycle.
The jeep had only minor damage. The family of the juvenile victim declined medical transport. The Sheriff’s Office says the incident remains under investigation.
