Fergus Falls, MN – The American Legion in Fergus Falls is closing its kitchen at the end of the month.
The Legion announced on Wednesday that it would be pausing its food service due to the retirement of its lead cook and baker, Kaye, at the end of August. The organization said that it has been searching for a qualified replacement for a long time, but so far, nothing has worked out.
Mary with the Legion says, “I think the good, the sad, and the hopeful. The good is that Kaye gets to retire, and she deserves that. The sad is because it is just plain sad, but the hopeful is we’re just hoping that if we take this pause, we’ll fins some people that can work well together and come up with a new version of Legion Ribs.”
The Legion will continue to serve food through the month of August and pause the service September 1. While the kitchen may be closing for a while, the American Legion Post 30 says the bar will remain open and they will continue to be an active part of the Fergus Falls community. Legion baseball will continue. The color guard will participate in veteran funerals and events. Monthly Legion meetings will continue to be held on the fourth Monday of every month.
