One Injured in Rural Battle Lake Crash

Battle Lake, MN – One person was injured in a two-vehicle crash in rural Battle Lake Saturday morning.

State troopers say an SUV and a pickup truck were both heading north on Highway 78 near Middle Lake Road at around 11:38 a.m. when the vehicles collided.

The driver of the SUV, 22-year-old Aaron McFarland of Battle Lake, was transported to Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the pickup, 71-year-old Daniel Rezac of Breckenridge, was not hurt.

Troopers say McFarland was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The incident remains under investigation.

The State Patrol was assisted by the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office, Ashby EMS, and the Ashby and Battle Lake Fire Departments.
