Fergus Falls, MN – An Ottertail woman has been charged with stealing money from her former employer.
Prosecutors say 52-year-old Kim Bechard took around $4,000 from the Casey’s Gas Station on Union Avenue in Fergus Falls over the course of a few months.
The company told police that the store had been flagged for investigation due to sudden financial losses between September and December 2025. An asset protection investigator reviewed surveillance from the store during that time and observed multiple incidents during November and December 2025 where Bechard could be seen placing cash from the till into her pockets. Bechard was interviewed internally in late December and acknowledged taking money from the tills, at which point her employment was terminated.
Police spoke with Bechard in March. She told them that she had taken money from the till on several occasions, but she believed the amount she took was closer to $1,000.
Bechard made her first court appearance Monday and has been charged with felony theft.
