Fergus Falls, MN – A Fergus Falls man was arrested for a domestic disturbance and a brief knife standoff with police Thursday night.
The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office says dispatchers received a report of a disturbance taking place north of Fergus Falls near the intersection of U.S. Highway 59 and County Highway 88 at around 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
Upon arrival, deputies found a vehicle parked in the middle of the road occupied by a single male, 39-year-old Seth Goltz. He was armed with a knife and refused to exit the vehicle.
After speaking to all involved parties, deputies say it was determined that there was probable cause to arrest Goltz for assault. After deputies utilized de-escalation tactics, Goltz put down the knife and was removed from the vehicle without injury.
Goltz made his first court appearance Friday morning and has been charged with 2nd degree assault, domestic assault, and obstructing the legal process.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Fergus Falls Police Department, MN State Patrol, and Ringdahl Ambulance.
