Detroit Lakes, MN (Learfield) – Rising healthcare costs and financial pressures on rural hospitals were the focus of a roundtable discussion in Detroit Lakes.
Senator Rob Kupec of Moorhead says the Senate approved $115 million for hospital funding in Greater Minnesota last session, but the final agreement with the House included just $30 million.
Kupec says rising insurance premiums are adding to the strain, with some counties reporting increases of 25 percent. With more federal healthcare cuts expected, he says finding relief for rural hospitals and patients will be a priority during next year’s budget session.
