By Dave Bishop Jun 18, 2021 | 11:16 AM

A scam involving Amazon has hit the Lakes Area.

The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office says someone is calling Lakes Area residents claiming to be from Amazon notifying people of suspicious spending on their Amazon account and items being placed on hold. The caller, then phishes for credit card numbers and bank account information to offer a “refund.”

The Sheriff’s Department says if you receive this type of phone call do not give out money, bank account information, or any personal information. If you are unable to decipher if the call is a scam or not, you’re encouraged to call your local Police or Sheriff’s Office.
