DNR Advises Extreme Caution With Fireworks, Campfires This 4th of July

By Dave Bishop Jul 3, 2021 | 6:57 AM

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is asking everyone to use extreme caution with fireworks and campfires this Fourth of July weekend.

High fire danger is expected statewide with warm temperatures and dry conditions.  There are burning restrictions in many north-central Minnesota counties and an unintentional spark could ignite a wildfire.

D-N-R fire prevention supervisor Casey McCoy warns that all of Minnesota is abnormally dry or in a stage of drought.  McCoy also reminds visitors that fireworks are not allowed in any state park or forest.

There have been more than 14-hundred wildfires since March in Minnesota.
