After a few years of planning and fundraising, the City of Fergus Falls will have its first dog park.
The Adams family deeded the land the dog park will be located on to the city in the 1930’s and named for their pet beagle, the Dog Park will bear the name “Higgins”. The park has been under construction since March of this year and now that it is complete, there will be a ribbon cutting event marking the official opening of the park on July 13th at 11:00am.
Fergus Falls having a dog park was the dream of a couple of residents, (who have now become Park and Recreation board members) Tami Revering and Chelsey Beilhartz. It was their enthusiasm and determination that convinced the Park and Recreation board and the City Council to include a dog park as another park facility for the residents of the city.
The ribbon cutting will be held on site at “Higgins” on July 13, 2021 at 11:00am.
The park is located at 715 E. Channing Ave.
The Dog Park is divided into two sides, with one for larger dogs and the other for smaller dogs.
There are also fire hydrants installed for the dogs to use, and bags and a scooper for cleaning up after your pet.
