At approximately 6:30 Tuesday night, the Richland County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an injury accident located at the intersection of County Road 10 and County Road 8.
Dwight Fire Department and Breckenridge ambulance assisted the Sheriff’s Office.
A vehicle driven by 38 year old Nicholas Heitkamp of Wahpeton, disregarded at stop sign at the intersection. Entered the intersection, and was struck by a vehicle driven by a 41 year old woman from Wahpeton.
She and her two juvenile passengers were taken to St Francis Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Heitkamp and his passenger were treated by Breckenridge ambulance at the scene and released. Neither will wearing their seatbelts.
Alcohol played a factor in the accident and charges are pending against Heitkamp for alcohol-related offenses.
Both vehicles are considered a total loss and were towed by Berger’s Towing.
The accident remains under investigation.
