After years of hard work and dedication, Mary Phillipe has officially finished up her time as the Executive Director of the United Way of Otter Tail and Wadena Counties.

During her time at the United Way, Mary Phillipe was able to help many people in the area through various conversations, programs, projects and more. According to a Facebook post on the United Way of Otter Tail & Wadena Counties page, she had many career highlights. That includes raising money in collaboration with a number of community partners to build Mudpie Playpark at McKinley Elementary, starting the first community conversation addressing human trafficking and sexual exploitation and helping reduce the amount of food insecurity for area families and individuals in need.

Phillipe is grateful for the people who she has met during her time as a part of the United Way. She said, “I thank everyone who has volunteered, who has advocated, who has been a stakeholder for the United Way, who has spread the good word about the work that we do.” She added, “It has been life changing for me to do this work. It changes who you are so thank you to all of you who have given to the United Way.”

Phillipe will still be involved with United Way (helping with the transition) as Jacklin Steege takes over as Executive Director. Steege’s first day as Executive Director was on Monday. She grew up in southeast Minnesota, graduated from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and currently lives outside of Bertha.
