The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Department says 35-year-old Joseph Bernstetter from Fergus Falls died in a crash on County Highway 1 Thursday afternoon, just west of Otter Tail Lake.
Bernstetter’s 2003 Nissan Maxima, was traveling westbound when it appeared to have crossed over the center line and hit a 2008 Ford Edge carrying two people from Fergus Falls head-on.
65-year-old Mitchell Davis was driving the Edge, and 63-year-old Violet Davis was a passenger.
Both suffered serious injuries.
Mitchell was taken by ambulance to Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls, and Violet was taken by Lifelink helicopter to a Fargo hospital.
The sheriff’s office says Minnesota State Patrol assisted in reconstructing the accident.
