Fergus Falls, MN – Two people were hospitalized after a mudding accident in rural Fergus Falls Saturday evening.
The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office says that just before 7 p.m., 38-year-old Jeffrey Rutten was driving a homemade off-highway vehicle on private property, mudding in a field, when it rolled.
Both Rutten and his 29-year-old female passenger were ejected, as neither was wearing a seatbelt, and Rutten was pinned under the OHV’s roll bars. Deputies say witnesses were able to lift the vehicle up enough to get Rutten out.
Both riders sustained serious injuries and were taken to Lake Region Healthcare for treatment.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Elizabeth Fire Department and Ringdahl Ambulance.
