Two Hospitalized Following Crash at Pelican Lake

Pelican Rapids, MN – Two people were injured in a motorcycle accident on the west side of Pelican Lake early Saturday morning.

At around 2:07 a.m., the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a motorcycle crash with injuries near the intersection of County Highway 9 and South Pelican Drive.

Upon arrival, deputies located the driver, a 41-year-old man from Monticello, with a suspected broken leg and head injury. They also found the passenger, a 37-year-old woman from Lake Park, with a head injury and a suspected injury to her leg.

The woman was airlifted to a Fargo hospital, and the man was taken to Essential Health in Detroit Lakes by ambulance for treatment of their injuries.

Deputies determined that the motorcycle was heading south on County Highway 9 at around 40 mph, before tipping over and skidding about thirty yards into the ditch. The crash remains under investigation.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Pelican Rapids Police Department, Ringdahl Ambulance, and Life Link.
