New M State Head Baseball Coach Dalton Parks. (M State)
Fergus Falls, MN – Minnesota State Community and Technical College (M State) has named Dalton Parks as the new Spartans head baseball coach. Parks will also serve as the college’s health and recreation faculty member and speed and strength coach.
Parks brings a background in collegiate coaching, recruiting and student development. Most recently, he served as head baseball coach at the University of Maine at Fort Kent, where he launched the program and led the team to its first victories in school history. Before that, he spent four years as assistant baseball coach and recruiting coordinator at the University of Minnesota Crookston, helping the team achieve back-to-back 35-win seasons, set school records and rank among the nation’s top offensive programs.
Originally from Utah, Parks has been involved in baseball since early childhood and jokes that his hobbies today include “baseball, baseball and baseball.” He says the teamwork, accountability and daily discipline the sport demands continue to inspire him and shape his approach to coaching and teaching.
A Minnesota Crookston alumnus, Parks earned a bachelor’s degree in sports management while playing baseball for the Golden Eagles. He later earned a master’s degree in physical education from the University of West Alabama and is also a National Strength and Conditioning Association-certified personal trainer. He will officially begin his role at M State in mid-August and says he’s excited to return to northwest Minnesota.
“This is a great opportunity to help strengthen a program and invest in students through both coaching and teaching,” Parks says. “My goal is to build strong relationships with M State baseball players and create a team culture built on togetherness, toughness and personal growth. Baseball has always been about more than wins and losses to me. It’s about showing up every day, working hard, supporting your teammates and becoming the best version of yourself. I want our student-athletes to leave M State as better players and better people.”
In addition to leading the baseball program, Parks will teach health and recreation courses and oversee strength and conditioning initiatives. He says he looks forward to helping students develop healthy habits and practical lifelong wellness skills that support their personal and professional goals.
M State President Carrie Brimhall says Parks’ student-centered philosophy aligns closely with the college’s mission and approach to athletics.
“Dalton’s commitment to developing the whole student stood out throughout the hiring process,” Brimhall says. “He brings strong coaching credentials, proven recruiting experience and a sincere enthusiasm for mentoring students. We welcome the energy and expertise he brings.”
