Rollag, MN – A candidate for the Minnesota Senate was injured in a rollover crash near Rollag Tuesday night.
State troopers say that at around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, a truck driven by 40-year-old Austin Peterson of Hawley was heading south on Highway 32 when it left the roadway and rolled. Peterson was taken to Sanford Hospital in Fargo for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The candidate for Minnesota Senate District 4 posted about the crash on social media, saying that a car in the opposite lane had crossed over into his lane, forcing him to make a split-second decision to avoid a head-on collision. He steered into the ditch and the truck rolled.
Peterson thanked a good Samaritan that helped him out of his vehicle and for the Barnesville and Hawley first responders for their professionalism, care and fast response time.
Peterson says he provided the Minnesota State Patrol with a description of the other vehicle and the incident remains under investigation.
