Fergus Falls, MN – The Otter Girls Tennis Team is going to state for the first time in the team’s history.

On Friday, the #1 seeded Otters traveled to StaFit in Sartell to face the #3 team from Becker in the section tennis finals.  This was the Otters first appearance in the section finals since 2003. The Otters took the match 5-2 and earned themselves their first ever trip to the girls’ tennis team state tournament.

After the match, Otter Head Coach Jamie Lill said, “Our girls did exactly what we needed them to do today.  They were focused.  Driven.  The girls were hungry for this win and battled so hard to earn it.  We could not be more proud of how they showed up to play today and the way they persevered to make things happen.  Today was the epitome of a team match.  Everybody was out there playing for each other.  Everybody was accountable to their teammates, knew their role, and executed well.  Our coaching staff could not be more proud of these girls today.  It was an amazing day of tennis and a historic day for our program and we have now earned the right to go and represent Fergus Falls at the girls’ tennis team state tournament.  What a joy to be a part of something so special with such an amazing group of young ladies.”

The team state tournament begins play at 8am on Tuesday, October 21 in Bloomington.
