Scam Alert. (Otter Tail County Sheriff)
Fergus Falls, MN – The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents of a recent scam impersonating law enforcement.
The Sheriff’s Office has received reports of an individual impersonating Lieutenant Seim and contacting people claiming they have a warrant for failure to appear for jury duty.
This is a scam. Law enforcement will never call you to demand payment or threaten arrest over the phone for missing jury duty.
The Sheriff’s Office says that if you receive a call like this, do not provide any personal or financial information, send money or gift cards, or click on any suspicious links. Instead, hang up immediately. If you’re unsure, contact your local law enforcement agency directly using a trusted phone number.
