Battle Lake, MN – An 83-year-old woman from Illinois was hospitalized after struggling to swim in Eagle Lake Monday night.
The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call for medical at a home on East Eagle Lake Drive, south of Battle Lake, at around 8:30 p.m. Monday. The caller told dispatch that the woman from Byron, Illinois had dove into the lake, was struggling to swim and was having a difficult time breathing.
Deputies say neighbors and friends were able to get the woman out of the water and to the shore. The woman was evaluated by Ashby Ambulance and was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
