Dent, MN – A man was injured after he fell out of his truck while backing his boat into the water at the Star Lake Public Access Saturday evening.
The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office says 76-year-old William Lewis of Dent was in the process of maneuvering his boat and trailer at around 6:30 p.m. Saturday when, at one point, he opened his driver-side door and looked back to gauge how close the trailer was to the dock. During this time, he fell out of the vehicle. The pickup remained in reverse and subsequently rolled into the water.
The truck entered approximately five feet of water. The towing company successfully recovered the truck and trailer from the water without incident. The driver sustained minor injuries.
Deputies say there is no suspicion of alcohol or drug use. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Dent Fire Department, Dent Rescue, and Perham Ambulance.
