Fergus Falls, MN – The City of Fergus Falls is preparing to begin the annexation process for land just outside city limits being considered for Project Glacier, a proposed logistics and distribution facility serving a multistate market.
The project could create up to 150 jobs in Fergus Falls. Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin in April 2027, making annexation of the property in 2026 an important step in keeping the project on schedule.
“Project Glacier represents a significant jobs and investment opportunity for Fergus Falls,” Mayor Anthony Hicks said. “Up to 150 jobs would have a tremendous impact on our community and the region. Our focus right now is making sure Fergus Falls is ready and that we complete the steps necessary to keep this project moving forward.”
The proposed development is located on land outside city limits. Annexation would bring the property into the city and allow the planning, infrastructure and development work necessary for the project to proceed.
The prospective company has not been publicly identified as private development discussions continue.
“There is a considerable amount of work that has to happen before a project of this scale can begin construction,” City Administrator Andrew Bremseth said. “Annexation is one of those steps. Beginning that process this year allows us to continue working toward the project’s anticipated April 2027 construction schedule while ensuring the city’s actions occur through the appropriate public process.”
The annexation process will include required public notices and City Council consideration. Additional information about Project Glacier will be released as the project advances and details become available for public disclosure.
“This is a substantial opportunity for Fergus Falls,” Hicks said. “Our job right now is to keep the project moving, protect the integrity of the private development process and make sure the community is positioned for the jobs and investment that could follow.”
